Sunflower - Autumn Beauty

'Autumn Beauty' is a blend of red, orange, and yellow sunflowers that all have black centers. They grow up to seven feet tall and offer blooms that are 10 inches in diameter. They are drought tolerant and require a lot of sun. Birds flock to these flowers as they provide a substantial amount of food for them. Sunflowers are good cut flowers. Planting should be done in the spring after the danger of frost is past. There are other varieties of sunflowers that are also produced in Oregon. Some other tall ones include ‘Lemon Queen’ and ‘Velvet Queen’. There is also a short variety of sunflower called Sunspot Sunflowers. It is yellow in color and stands between two and three feet tall.
