California Poppy - Mikado Red

These silky red flowers open in the sun but close if the sky is cloudy or they are planted in the shade.  The California Poppy Mikado is drought tolerant and does well in hot climates after it is established.  Excellent as a cut flower if cut in the bud stage.  Not recommended for indoor planting.  In cold climates, it is best to plant these flowers as soon as the ground can be worked.  In warmer climates, they can be planted in early fall and will bloom in later fall and spring.
